What's new?
==========
New feature: users can now define the postmacro and cross-reference
delimiters
Some optimizations.
Updated documentation with a new section about cross-references.
What is the eXtrans framework?
=========================
The eXtrans software allows you to easily translate XML documents into any
other format or representation: it may be HTML, XML,
LateX, pictures, sound,... or anything else the python language can
manipulate.
Those translations are driven by abstract translators (xtrans scripts)
embedding python code. Translators are very easy to write, since all
the complicated details of XML parsing, reference resolving, file
management and even python programming are handled by the underlying
system in a way transparent to the user.
This distribution includes GimpClient, a python module for communicating
with Gimp. Through this module, your xtrans scripts have
access to a powerful graphic factory in an efficient manner.

WWWppp is a Web frontend to ppp-on and ppp-off. All that is needed
to initiate the PPP internet link from the client hosts is your favorite
web browser. It is suitable for small home networks using a single dialup
internet connection.
On the main page of WWWppp, the user is informed about the current state of
the PPP link. If the link is up, the hostnames of the hosts that are currently
needing the internet connection are listed. Below, there are links to
refresh the display, to start up the PPP connection ("I need internet [too]")
and to stop it ("I don't need internet anymore"). Multiple hosts are
supported. The hostnames from where the internet connection was requested
are stored in a DBM database file.
The PPP link is started when the first host requests to use internet.
It is kept up until no other host needs internet anymore. If the connection
fails for some reason, the list of hosts that need internet (DBM file)
is cleared.
WWWppp speaks german and english via URL parameter 'lang' (de, en).
The package uses PHP4 and the apache webserver.
Current version: 0.2

Subject: sysstat-3.3.6 - System performance tools for Linux
Date: Sat, 10 Mar 2001 16:20:58 GMT
=====BEGIN PGP SIGNED MESSAGE=====
Hi everybody out there,
Sysstat release 3.3.6 in now available on sunsite/metalab server:
ftp://metalab.unc.edu/pub/Linux/system/status/
83kB sysstat-3.3.6.tar.gz
85kB sysstat-3.3.6-1.src.rpm
67kB sysstat-3.3.6-1.i386.rpm
The sysstat utilities are a collection of performance monitoring tools
for Linux. These include sar, mpstat, iostat and sa tools.
Sysstat 3.3.6 contains significant improvements over the previous
version. New features have been added to the sar command: ability to
report on load averages, queue length, and devices. Paging statistics
have also been enhanced.
Please note that version 3.3.6 is a development release. The latest
stable version is still 3.2.4.
I hope to release the next stable version of sysstat at the beginning of
April (sysstat 4.0.0).
To learn some more about sysstat, check out
http://perso.wanadoo.fr/sebastien.godard/
Changes vs 3.3.5 are:
2001/03/04: Version 3.3.6
* New paging statistics added (sar -B). Kernel 2.4 only.
* Load averages and queue length statistics added (option -q for sar).
* Per device statistics added (option -d for sar). Kernel 2.4 only.
* Better accuracy when computing average for some statistics.
* Display all the contents of a daily data file when the count parameter
is not given on the command line.
* Check sar command line options more aggressively.
* iostat no longer freezes if -c and -d options are used together.
* Fixed a bug that prevented iostat from displaying more than an average
of three devices with 2.4 kernels (a buffer was too small).
* Check added to ensure that sar and sadc commands are consistent.
* isag command updates.
