*** web2ldap.py 0.7.3 ***

HI!

I would like to announce a new version of web2ldap, a full-featured
LDAPv2+ client written in Python designed to run as web gateway.

It's available for free (GPL) from

  http://www.web2ldap.de/

There's a demo up and running:

  http://www.web2ldap.de/demo.html

I would like to encourage users to heavily test this gateway and
report success or problems to feedback@web2ldap.de. You might want
to use the feedback form on

  http://www.web2ldap.de/feedback.html

as a template for a mail.

Thanks a lot.

Ciao, Michael.

*** New York Linux Users Group April Meeting ***
                           - NYLUG.org -

                     Miguel de Icaza - GNOME

4/17/00
MONDAY!!
5:30pm-7:00pm
IBM Headquarters Building
590 Madison Avenue at 57th Street
Check in at lobby for badge and room number.

- -------------------------------------

!! PLEASE NOTE THE SCHEDULE CHANGE !!
Due to the Passover holiday, the April meeting will be held on Monday April 17th,
not on the typical Wednesday, and starts one hour earlier than usual at 5:30pm

- -------------------------------------

Miguel de Icaza is the primary author of the GNOME project and co-founder of
Helix Code, a Boston start-up that has developed and come June of this
year, will start shipping a cdrom distribution of this world famous desktop
environment. GNOME is a user-friendly graphical desktop environment, toolset
and application suite that enables users to easily use and configure their
computers however they wish.

A screenshot speaks a thousand words...
     http://www.helixcode.com/desktop/screenshots.php3

The Helix GNOME Desktop, specifically, is what you need to easily install
all of the most current GNOME packages so you can move forward and
immediately get to work. GNOME is particularly significant because it offers
a comprehensive, fully-featured, and polished alternative to Microsoft
Windows and Microsoft Office. Equally amazing is the ease with which you can
convert to a GNOME desktop. It's basically just one step - download the
go-gnome script from the web site and everything else is taken care of...

e.g. paste the below command in a shell
     lynx -source http://spidermonkey.helixcode.com/go-gnome |sh

To say that "everything else is taken care of" is an understatement because
you can also run Helix Update from time to time and the entire system will
be automatically updated with the latest releases and bug fixes.

Q: What is the license of Helix GNOME?
A: Helix GNOME is a binary distribution of the GNOME software. All of the
GNOME software is licensed under a free license, a.k.a. open source.
Typically, free software is licensed under the terms of the GNU GPL and the
libraries are licensed under the terms of the GNU LGPL. In lay terms, that
means you can use, copy, distribute, modify and re-distribute modifed
versions of the software under the same terms they were licensed.

Recently named one of the "50 Leaders of the New Millennium" by Time
Magazine and CNN, Miguel spent his pre-GNOME career as part of the team that
brought Linux to the SPARC and as the primary author of GNU Midnight
Commander.

Join us as Miguel and Nat Friedman answer your questions and give us the
latest news of their work. This meeting will deliver a rich mix of news,
information and glory that will no doubt capture the imagination of both
beginners and the technically elite. (Please note that I happen to be a KDE
freak, but am impressed enough with The Helix Code Desktop to tell you that
this presentation warrants an open-minded view, i.e. no zealotry please.)

After the Meeting... Stammtisch

Join us around 7:15pm or so at the Typhoon Brewery & Restaurant located

______________
Swag Give-Away

We have cdroms of StarOffice, TurboLinux, and IBM's Alphaworks to give away
for free on a first-come, first-served basis. I have about 30 copies of
each.
