FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Reliable Software announces Code Co-op for the Linux OS
Seattle-based Reliable Software announces a joint collaboration with
Swedish-based Klarälvdalens Datakonsult AB to port Code Co-op to the Linux
platform. Reliable Software's Code Co-op is a full-featured version control
system (VCS) enabling developers to collaborate using peer-to-peer
networking without the need for a central server. However, unlike other
systems, it also allows synchronization over e-mail or through the exchange
of diskettes. These unique features make Code Co-op the only server-less
system for distributed collaboration. This release will provide developers
with the first fully distributed server-less VCS for the Linux platform. The
Linux version of Code Co-op will have all the functionality currently
available in the Windows version, including Graphical User Interface for
check-in, check-out, merge, visual diff and restore. It will also be fully
interoperable with the Windows version.
The beta will be released in the spring of 2000 with the final release due
out by summer of 2000.
For more information on Code Co-op or to download the Windows trial version
visit www.relisoft.com/co_op/index.htm .

From: Randolf Schultz <rschultz@informatik.uni-rostock.de>
Subject: The Mops 0.42d - free 3D modeling environment
Date: Wed, 8 Mar 2000 22:36:34 GMT
=====BEGIN PGP SIGNED MESSAGE=====
The Mops 0.42d a free 3D modeling environment
[This will be the last release of The Mops!]
The Mops is a free 3D modeling environment for the RenderMan Interface.
You may download The Mops from:
http://www.informatik.uni-rostock.de/~rschultz/mops/
Whats new?
Changes from 0.42c to 0.42d [7. Mar 2000]:
- - UI-layout on Win32 improved.
- - Allowed canceling of user scripts by redefining while, for,
forAll and forAllT to watch the "Ctrl-C" key in the console.
- - Changed the ICurve custom object to rely on a child NURBCurve
to get the points to interpolate from, benefits: operations
that mess with the NURB curves control points (revert, insert,
delete, refine) are now available for the ICurve.
- - Improved the beveling mechanism for the Extrude custom object
to cope with multiple control points.
- - Object names are now written as comments to the RIB.
- - Added a new view action "zoomToObject" (shortcut "Ctrl+o")
that zooms and moves the view so that it displays the selected
object(s).
- - Wrote an Export-PlugIn for sPatch, that outputs a Mops scene file.
- - Added support for multiple control points to the NURB curve object.
There are now two new NURB tools "Collapse" and "Explode", which
create and destroy multiple points for NURB curves.
- - Changed the meaning of the "Closed" attribute of NURB curves,
closed curves now always have p (order-1) equal points (using
multiple points from the previous paragraph) at the start
and end of the curve and always a B-Spline or Custom knot vector.
(A NURB circle is not a "closed" curve following this definition!)
- - Several NURB modeling tools handle the "Closed" attribute and multiple
points in different ways than previous versions. Please reread
the documentation if you experience strange things.
- - Added new preference setting "ReadRiOpt" that determines whether
RiOptions should be read from scene files.
- - Added a Save-Preferences facility, that saves the current preferences
to the mopsrc.
- - When a single object is selected, the origin of its local coordinate
system is drawn as the three well known colored lines.
- - Added Interpolation option to the Sweep custom object, if enabled,
the Sweep will interpolate all section curves.
- - The distributed executables of The Mops are now wrapped using
the brilliant Wrap0.3; this means that the executable is in
fact a self extracting zip-archive carrying the Tcl-scripts
and the button images (no need to set MOPSLIB anymore).
- - The semantics for the handling of shader paths completely changed.
The new internal preference setting "Shaders" takes precedence over
the environment variable "SHADERS" and can be easily configured
via the Prefs property GUI.
- - Help starts now a configurable help viewer (default is netscape -remote)
with a configurable document.
- - Using Shift and the rightmost mouse button you can now move the
camera in the direction it is looking.
- - Scanning for shaders is now more robust. It works now with
multiple compiled files for one shader (resulting from DSO-shaders
that appear in BMRT2.5).
- - Made The Mops more compatible with array shader arguments.
This is an "atleast, it does not crash"-hack, which means
array arguments are simply ignored internally. Still thinking
about an appropriate GUI-element for arrays, a string entry field?

Date: Wed, 8 Mar 2000 22:26:05 GMT
=====BEGIN PGP SIGNED MESSAGE=====
** Announcing the release of XBoard and WinBoard, version 4.0.7 **
A new release of both XBoard and WinBoard is now available. Version
4.0.7 fixes one bad bug in Internet Chess Server support that was
introduced in 4.0.6. Version 4.0.6 (released two days before 4.0.7)
was a larger bug-fix release, including over 20 fixes to various small
bugs and a couple of very minor new features. See the ChangeLog in
the distribution for details.
You can get both programs from my Chess page on the World Wide Web.
In addition, they should soon be available from GNU FTP sites.
- - http://www.research.compaq.com/SRC/personal/Tim_Mann/chess.html
- - ftp://ftp.gnu.org/gnu/xboard/
- - ftp://ftp.gnu.org/gnu/winboard/
XBoard is a graphical chessboard for the X Window System that can
serve as a user interface for GNU Chess, Crafty, and other chess
engines, for the Internet Chess Servers, and for electronic mail
correspondence chess. XBoard can also be used by itself. It can read
and write game files in PGN (portable game notation).
WinBoard is a similar program for Microsoft Windows 95/98 and Windows
NT. It includes all the major features of XBoard except email
correspondence chess. Warning: WinBoard does not work on Windows 3.1
or 3.11, not even with Win32s. It should work on Windows 2000, but I
have not tested it there.
Please report any apparent new bugs to me. Some known bugs and
deficiencies in previous versions have not been addressed. It is not
necessary to report your favorite bug again if you have reported it
before, unless the ChangeLog erroneously says it has been fixed. Most
known bugs, deficiencies, and suggestions received are now listed in
the ToDo file.
