Just thought I'd let everyone know about a KDE napster client for linux.

It's currently still in development but does support search by song/group and

by user as well as downloads and queuing of downloads.

It also allows messaging and the napster chat channels.

Subject: GPUL Game Library 0.2.0 (fst. public release)
Date: Tue, 18 Jan 2000 22:26:54 GMT

=====BEGIN PGP SIGNED MESSAGE=====

I'm pleased to announce the first public release of GGL. GGL is a
project based on top on GGI, wich will provide a very high level API to game
programmers, not only for graphics, but also for devices, sound, AI,
real-time video, loading of graphic formats, and more.
You can see our web at:

         http://ceu.fi.udc.es/gpul/proyectos/ggl

Unfortunatelly the english version hasn't the news as updated as
the spanish one, but the rest is equal.

We have updated from 0.1.2 version to 0.2.0, you can download from
the web page. It was there since a year ago, but this is the first public
announce as it is now very usable and now it has a complete tutorial
(complete for the things that we have implemented now, of course)

You can see at the web page all the things that we are trying to
give support for, but here you have the changes from 0.1.2 to 0.2.0, to work
up an appetite:

         * New 2D engine, supporting layers, and more efficient than
previous one. It has been proved exporting the display through
ethernet from a 486/66 and it seems to be quite fast now.

         * The devices support is almost done, there is only a little
problem between joystick and keyboard buttons, but GGI people has
said me how to solve this.

         * We are now 26 developers!

         * API documentation is almos synchronized with the actual API.

         * We have now a complete tutorial (complete with the things that
we have implemented now, of course) !! (Downloadable from the
           web)

         * Network, realtime video and Artifficial Intelligence systems
are completelly specified, now only need implementation.

         * Other systems, although quite thought, are still neither
           implemented nor specified.

Thats all. Although there is an example with GGL, it's too much
simple. I've made another, it's at ftp://ceu.fi.udc.es/os/linux/gpul/ and
the name may change as I'm making snapshots quite often, but it starts by
"blockout" (don't focuse on this way of implement GGL games, see the
tutorial examples, as this example is a bit ugly, sorry, I will change it)

Best regards.

QuickPortal is an easy to use collaboration application that lets small
businesses, or departments, create an instant shared workspace - a
QuickPortal - on the Internet, or their corporate intranet, where team
members can centrally communicate, share, and organize information,
documents and web links around any project or initiative.

With its fast installation and simple maintenance, QuickPortal allows
companies that lack MIS departments or seek to lessen MIS workloads to
realize the benefits of collaboration. Because QuickPortal does not
require any special client software, it allows users outside the
firewall to collaborate as efficiently as those inside.

For further information please visit http://www.quickportal.com

Seeking Beta sites for QuickPortal/Linux Edition. The software
environment of QuickPortal will consist of a CGI application running in
conjunction with an Apache Web server. QuickPortal requires any recent
model Pentium II, or better, system with at least 64 Mbytes of memory.

If you are interested in being a beta site for the Linux version of
QuickPortal please send email to beta@quickportal.com. The Win32 version
of QuickPortal is available now for downloading at
http://www.quickportal.com.

While responding please remove the nospam from the email address.

There is the Metro Detroit L.U.G. which I'm sure is a great organization

road traffic and construction.

Just polling for interest !! Bill

GURU LABS ANNOUNCES FORMALIZATION OF LINUX TRAINING CENTER

After months of intensive research, GURU Labs has completed development of
several new Linux courses and is prepared to teach Guru curriculum.

Dax Kelson and Bryan Croft founded Guru Labs in July of 1999 and immediately
started shaping the training company to be the premiere Linux training
facility in the country.

"We've had several years of classroom experience and specifically designed
our classrooms and courses for optimal learning in a comfortable
environment. Guru Labs has spacious classrooms, a large break room, high
end Pentium III workstations, and training in the latest advances and
applications of Linux. Instructors guide students through coursework with
a heavy emphasis on labs and experiential exercises. 'Learning by doing'
is the hallmark of a Guru Labs training experience," said Bryan Croft,
Co-founder and CEO

The team of experts in the Curriculum Department spent months in research
and development to create specialized Guru-level coursework in subjects
ranging from security and scripting to network services and Linux/Windows NT
integration. Currently, an in-depth e-commerce class is proving to be the
most popular of the advanced level Guru classes.

Guru Labs also offers classes in Fundamentals, which is a comprehensive
introduction to Linux/Unix systems, and an Engineer course which
specifically trains in issues important to system administration.

"We're excited to offer Guru coursework. Currently, there is no other
training facility in the country offering the type of intensive, in-depth
instruction in Linux that we're offering. That's why we chose the name Guru
Labs. We are essentially Gurus training Gurus in the intricacies of Linux,"
explained Dax Kelson, Co-founder and President.

Devoted to the advancement of Linux, Guru Labs actively contributes to
various open source projects. Guru Instructors have been active in the
Linux community for at least 6 years. Past and current projects include
linux kernel, Wine, Samba, and GNOME. Guru Labs also utilizes 5% of profits
for sponsorhip of Linux development.

Courses begin in January of 2000. Course descriptions, syllabi, and class
dates are detailed on their web-site at www.gurulabs.com
