,--------------------------------.
| Eridani Star System announces: |
`--------------------------------'
Eridani's Latest Red Hat 6.1 CD ----> £ 3.50 each.
We also have available:
Linux-Mandrake 6.1 -----------------> £ 3.50 each.
Debian GNU/Linux 2.1 2CDROM set ----> £ 6.00 per set.
Red Hat Powertools 6.0 -------------> £ 3.50 each.
Older releases available:
Eridani CDROM with Red Hat 6.0 -----> £ 3.50 each.
Eridani CDROM with Red Hat 5.2 -----> £ 3.50 each.
Red Hat Powertools 5.2 -------------> £ 3.50 each.
Linux-Mandrake 6.0 -----------------> £ 3.50 each.
Linux-Mandrake 5.3 -----------------> £ 3.50 each.
The install CDROMs include an El Torito boot record, which, on supported
hardware make them bootable.
The Red Hat 6.1 CDs are made to order, and as such, will have all the Red
Hat updates to that time on the CD. Rather than having them in a separate
updates directory, we have opted to make them part of the install, so you
automatically have an up-to-date Linux system.
The distribution takes up virtually all the space on the CDs, squeezing
all of the extras out. When Powertools 6.1 becomes available I will
probably add the extras to that disc. If that doesn't work out we'll bring
out a separate extras CD.
A large amount of extra software has been included on the RH6.0 CDROMs,
including Corel WordPerfect (FTP version) and Sun JDK 1.1.7 (for the
programmers out there). Also now included are xawtv and alevt (for
bttv-based TV cards), VNC, SANE (scanner driver software), ALSA sound
drivers, Speak Freely 7 and SSH 1.2.27. Note this is not an exhaustive
list!
These extras are stored separately to the main installation, and as such
an installation not using the extras uses only genuine Red Hat-sourced
packages giving a real, genuine Red Hat Linux installation.
A second CD is available, which contains all the source code. Red Hat
Linux is just too big now to have all the binaries and sources on the one
CD. This CD is also available, also for £ 3.50.
The Debian CD set is the Official Debian GNU/Linux 2.1 (slink) 2CD
distribution from their Official Debian ISOs.
The Mandrake CDs are based on a Mandrake-sourced ISO.
For more information about the discs, and how to order, please visit our
Web site at:
http://linux.amush.cx
International orders accepted, but due to the cost of bank charges and
international mail, the prices will be slightly higher.
Sorry, we cannot accept credit cards. Cash (Pounds sterling preferred!)
and cheques drawn on a UK bank. International bank transfers accepted,
however subject to a £ 2.00 charge due to bank charges. There is a £ 1.50
charge for postage and packaging for up to 2 CDs within the UK, variable
for international customers.

Best-effort file systems (e.g. EXT2 file systems) can co-exist on the

without endangering real-time deadlines.

Subject: SHAREWARE: Mapedit Imagemap Editor for Linux
Date: Thu, 7 Oct 1999 21:49:07 GMT
=====BEGIN PGP SIGNED MESSAGE=====
A new version of the Mapedit imagemap editor is now available for
Linux. Thanks to the Willows Twin library, this release is identical
to the Windows 95/98/NT version in every respect, and will be
maintained in the future with exactly the same feature set found
on the Windows 95/98/NT platform.
"What's an imagemap editor?"
Ever seen an image on a web page in which different portions of the
same image link to different places? That's an imagemap. Our imagemap
editor allows you to conveniently open HTML documents directly to add
imagemaps without the need to fuss with coordinates. You don't even
have to cut and paste HTML.
"What was wrong with the Java version?"
Every Java implementation (JDK) we encountered had a completely new and
unique set of bugs. Also, the separate Java version meant maintaining
more than one set of source code. Inevitably, the Java version fell
out of step with the Windows version. From now on, there's just
one set of source code -- and that means Linux users can count on
receiving the same updates that Windows users do.
"Where can I get Mapedit?"
Mapedit 2.6 is available here:
http://www.boutell.com/mapedit/
"The Willows TWIN library is under the GNU Library Public License, right?"
Yes, it is. We have set up a mirror of the TWIN library, which includes
a patchfile providing all of the modifications we found necessary in
order to make our application work properly with TWIN. The GLPL
requires that we make the Willows TWIN library source code and
all modifications made to it available for free. It does not require
that we make our application's source code available. This is
different from the GNU General Public License (commonly known as GPL).
"How much does Mapedit cost?"
Mapedit is shareware, with a 30-day evaluation period. If you continue
to use the software after 30 days, you must register for $25.
Free registration is available to educational institutions and
nonprofit organizations.

=====BEGIN PGP SIGNED MESSAGE=====
http://www.tummy.com/krud/
The October 1st release of Kevin's RedHat Uber Distribution (KRUD)
is now available (yes, we're still saying "Redhat" :-)). Every month
Kevin merges in the latest and greatest errata (those which aren't
totally broken anyway) into a standard RedHat distribution (currently
version 6.0).
Usually, RedHat only releases a few new packages right after we release
KRUD, but this month it's an entire new release (6.1). Once 6.1
stabilizes, you can look forward to a KRUD based off 6.1. However,
since the majority of machines we've tried to install 6.1 on have failed,
we're going to stick with 6.0 right now.
What ever will you do with the time you save not having to find, download,
and apply the latest errata to your newly-installed system? "FreeCIV"
and "PySol" are included as possible answers to just that question.
Updates/Extras now number over 170 packages (see web site for exact
package list).
Updates/Extras Include:
Mesa, PyPAM, XFree86, aalib, acroread, apmd CD-ROM burning and MP3
tools, EPIC, freeciv, TrueType Fonts and TT Font Server, glade,
gtk+, GNOMEhack, kernel, lftp, Matt's Traceroute, Pilot-link,
pyGnome/pyGtk, SAMBA, Speak Freely, VNC, WWWoffle, XEmacs, XMMS,
XScreenSaver
CD-ROMs available for $4US (includes domestic shipping and handling)
or a years subscription for $44US. Also available without crypto for
international orders.
