=====BEGIN PGP SIGNED MESSAGE=====
I have to announce leafnode-1.9.4 which has been uploaded to
ftp://wpxx02.toxi.uni-wuerzburg.de/pub/leafnode-1.9.4.tar.gz
and
ftp://metalab.unc.edu/incoming/Linux/leafnode-1.9.4.tar.gz
Leafnode is a news server for small sites which is very easy to install
and maintain.
This release was necessary because the install routine had a bug which
caused it to break. In addition, some other very tiny pieces of code have
been changed (see
http://wpxx02.toxi.uni-wuerzburg.de/~krasel/ln.changes.html
for details).
If you have Leafnode-1.9.3 installed successfully, you do not need to
download Leafnode-1.9.4.
Leafnode has a home page at
http://wpxx02.toxi.uni-wuerzburg.de/~krasel/leafnode.html
and there is a leafnode mailing list; to subscribe, send mail with
"Subscribe" in the Subject: header to
leafnode-list@wpxx02.toxi.uni-wuerzburg.de
And here is the lsm entry (this time again with the correct date):

Subject: tQL - ALPHA TCL/SQL interface released
Date: Thu, 22 Jul 1999 19:49:04 GMT
=====BEGIN PGP SIGNED MESSAGE=====
*** tQL - SQL queries from TCL ***
Do you want a simple way of connecting to SQL databases? Do you like
the TCL language? If so, you might be interested in tQL, a new project
that aims to provide a general TCL/SQL interface. It is based around a
simple interface queries are defined like this:
tQL::Query older_people { age } {
SELECT p.name, p.age FROM person p
WHERE p.age > $age
}
Query results are returned in a TCL array, accessed as:
puts $result(0,name)
which would return the first name in the table.
tQL version 0.1 is a first ALPHA version, intended as a proof of
concept. As such, the functionality is limited (although there should
be enough there to write useful programs), and only PostgreSQL databases
are supported. I would welcome any interest in helping develop tQL.
tQL has been tested under Redhat Linux 5.0, with the egcs compiler,
TCL 8.0 and PostgreSQL 1.01. It should work under any Linux
distribution (and possibly other unices) with TCL 8.0 or higher
installed.
More information, and the tQL source code can be downloaded from
http://www.rose-cottage.demon.co.uk/tql/
Questions or comments should be sent to

=====BEGIN PGP SIGNED MESSAGE=====
High-Performance Linux WAN Networking from The Software Group
BARRIE, Ontario--July 15, 1999--The Software
Group Limited announces Wanware/Linux, a Linux Wide-Area Network
connectivity product.
Based on the Wanware(R) line of Unix products, Wanware/Linux
connects computers directly to wide-area networks using the X.25
and Frame Relay protocols.
Direct interfaces to TCP/IP allows system administrators and
integrators to deploy data processing and communications capability in
a single server in their replicated networks. ISPs using Wanware/Linux
will appreciate two key features of the product - the ability to
support high speed synchronous links, and to connect up to 16 links to
one computer. To support business customers requiring synchronous
connections at speeds up to 5 Megabits/second, combining up to four
Wanware/Linux adapters in a machine provides a low deployment
cost/port for X.25, or Frame Relay connections.
For developers, the product contains Application Programming
Interface libraries providing direct use of communications protocols.
Using these facilities, programmers integrate specialized
communications with data processing systems. Collecting and processing
telephone billing records, switching voice calls over Frame Relay
links, or developing specialized protocol dialects using the
synchronous communications library are just a sample of the
applications developed using TSG's connectivity products for other
operating system environments.
Synchronous adapters compatible with Wanware/Linux are available
in a variety of configurations - for ISA and PCI buses, and with one,
two or four links per adapter. Electrical interfaces conforming to the
RS-232-C, V.35, X.21 and RS-530 specifications are available. The
adapters support link speeds up to five Mbits/second, internally or
externally clocked.
The Wanware/Linux product is available now from
The Software Group Limited,
642 Welham Road,
Barrie, Ontario L4N 9A1.

Applix Announces SmartBeak.com
Applix Linux Division Launches Collaboration and Support Site for Linux
Developers and Users Worldwide
Westboro, MA, July 15, 1999 -- Applix, Inc. (NASDAQ:APLX), a leader in
applications for Linux and UNIX markets, announced today that the company
has launched a new web site, www.SmartBeak.com, to bring together the
support and collaboration needs of Open Source Software developers and
users.
Users seeking help for issues relating to Open Source Software often have to
use a combination of internet-based information sources to obtain the
knowledge required to fix their problems. The purpose of SmartBeak.com is to
simplify and accelerate this effort.
"We created the SmartBeak.com website to address the need in the Linux and
Open Source Software community for a more structured approach to providing
knowledge and managing support issues," said Jit Saxena, Chairman and CEO of
Applix. "We are seeking to position SmartBeak.com as the website that brings
users and developers together in one place and helps them to work together
in a collaborative fashion. Futhermore, we believe that usage of this
website will help foster the development of Open Source Software
applications."
SmartBeak.com users are able to search a knowledge base for documents
containing information for solving their issues. The information is made up
of How To, Frequently Asked Questions, HTML, and support database texts
which SmartBeak.com automatically updates and indexes.
According to Michael Prince, Chief Information Officer, Burlington Coat
Factory, "We are preparing to roll out a distributed network of Linux
workstations and this project provides us with the challenge of obtaining
support for certain components of our solution." He continued,
"SmartBeak.com will be a valuable resource for us and our vendors to use as
a knowledge base, support and collaboration mechanism."
LinuxPPC, Inc., the leading provider of the Linux operating system for the
Macintosh platform, will be the site's first signed software partner. Jason
Haas, Webmaster and technical support supervisor at LinuxPPC said,
"SmartBeak.com represents an opportunity for us to manage our users'
questions and problems, and gives us the ability to route and escalate
issues to the developers in the community, many of which are geographically
dispersed. In short, we expect that by using SmartBeak.com we'll be
significantly improving the support and development of our Linux
distribution."
Unlike many other web-based support sites for Open Source Software products,
SmartBeak.com provides a problem report entry and tracking system to enable
users to post questions or log issues and track their progress. Developers
worldwide, responsible for products represented on the SmartBeak.com site
are able to access these items, assign or escalate their priority and using
SmartBeak.com's workflow engine, assign issues to the appropriate developers
within their communities.
For each posted question or problem report that a user creates, a message
board system allows other users and developers to collaborate on the
resolution of the issues. A user customizable section of the site, called
my.SmartBeak.com provides an instant update of the progress of their own
issues.

Date: Thu, 22 Jul 1999 20:06:45 GMT
=====BEGIN PGP SIGNED MESSAGE=====
Linux has long been regarded for its power, flexibility, and its
stability. However, it has never really been heralded for it's ease of
configuration or the elegance of its administration tools. Many
organizations have tried to build administration/configuration tools to
ease-up on Linux's typically steep learning curve, however in one way or
another, they have failed to acheive the usability and elegance found in
other systems.
Out of frustration with the existing base of tools/systems, I have started
Project Claymore. This project aims to create an easy-to-use, flexible,
and ultimately elegant configuration/administration system for Linux.
Basically, what this will create is a Linux "Control Panel", with features
similar to those found in the Control Panel(s) of other popular operating
systems (such as the MacOS or Windows.)
For more information on the project, please visit the project's web site

Hello,
I've developed a simple driver for a DCF-77 card from the company hopf
(http://www.hopf-time.com). You can download it from my homepage
(http://www-public.tu-bs.de:8080/~y0001863/software/index.html).
Because it is not tested very well, you should be careful using it
(nevertheless DCF-77 is not harmful).
If you find a bug or made an improvement, please contact me
(maito:bauhan@tu-harburg.de?Subject=[Driver]).
Have fun with it,
Sven
