I think people should not worry about adding GNOME libraries to an
app's dependencies. Both RH and Debian (and others?) have easy to
install GNOME lib packages. And at least Debian (probably RH and
others, also) allow to install the latest GTK+ developement libraries
along side the stable ones.
And if more apps make use of GNOME's functions, it will only help
GNOME become more excepted as a Cool Thing.
