I know, thanks to the recent discussion here, that labels draw in their
parents, do not have windows of their own, and are uninvolved in
requisitions. That seems like a generally wonderful policy for writing
non-bloated applications.
However, there are times when one wants a text display (not editing) widget
that does take into account the character of its contents, including length,
and formats it to fit. The tooltips do this, so it ought not to be that
hard to come up with a widget that does this.
Has anyone put any thought into this yet?
