I think this sounds like the typical case where you may have older (ie.
1.0) copies of glib and/or gtk+ on your machine. Unless you used --prefix
when you ran configure for the glib and gtk+ libraries they were installed
in to /usr/local/lib. Take a look in /usr/lib to see if you have another
version of the libraries there. Don't forget to look for another version of
gtk-config elsewhere as well.
