Back in september I uploaded a patch which was taking a very different
approach, it would turn button 4/5 events into PgUp/PgDown events
right at the gdk level.
The patch should still be in ftp.gtk.org
(gtk-glaurent-980911-0.patch.gz), though I don't think it would
cleanly apply anymore.
