I thought I should clarify a couple points here:

Assuming that you don't already have that fork (1.1) of the GTK+ tree
installed. If you do, follow my "radical advice for upgrading".

By doing a "rpm -e gtk+-1.0.1" instead of just gtk+. Otherwise it removes both
versions.
