The second beta release of OpenSSL 0.9.5a is now available from the OpenSSL
FTP site <URL: ftp://ftp.openssl.org/source/>. This beta will end in about
a week (29 Mar 2000), at which point either a third beta or the real thing
will be released. We know this wasn't the original plan, but the amount of
problems with the first beta was a good reason to do this release.

To make sure that it will work correctly, please test this version
(especially on less common platforms), and report any problems to
<openssl-bugs@openssl.org>. Of course, we're just as happy to know
if it worked well for you, and we try to keep track of where this
release works and where it does not.

This beta is especially targeted on Win32 users, as well as any other system
that had problems with the first beta. On Win32, it would be a good thing
if it could be verified that this beta also works with Cygwin.

This version contains mostly bug fixes, and the following new features:

o Shared library support for HPUX and Solaris-gcc
      o Support of Linux/IA64
      o Support of Mingw32
      o New 'rand' application
o New way to check for existence of algorithms from scripts
