The government is now starting to include encryption anecdotes in
their arguments for GAK. For example, at today's House Judiciary
hearing Robert Litt of the DoJ gave as examples nthe cases of Aldrich
Ames and Ramzi Yousef. I note that both these individuals were
nonetheless convicted on the basis of other evidence.
They mentioned some other cases involving child porn, drug trafficking
and computer hacking, but because there were no specifics we have no
way to know if these people were ever indicted, and if they were, if
a conviction resulted.
