Regarding GSM's A5 algorithm:
Andrew Meredith writes: >as I am aware the state
of the art is currently "key space bruters in
>custom hardware are on the drawing board".
I find this fascinating, since the source code
that Ross Anderson posted very clearly states "we
guessed a couple of things" like the taps on two
of the registers. Bruce Schneier included that
source, but without the comments pointing out the
unknowns. I have reason to believe (via a
backchannel) that the published taps are
incorrect, but I don't *know* that.
Does anyone who *knows* the register polynomials
and clocking taps care to post them please?
Greg.
