The skype client was reverse engineered several years ago:
@inproceedings{biondi06silver,
=A0 title =3D {Silver Needle in the Skype},
=A0 author =3D {Philippe Biondi and Fabrice Desclaux},
=A0 note =3D "\url{www.blackhat.com/presentations/bh-europe-06/bh-eu-06-bio=
ndi/bh-eu-06-biondi-up.pdf}",
=A0 booktitle =3D {Black Hat Europe},
=A0 month =3D "Feb-Mar",
=A0 year =3D 2006
}
I don't know if the new crack reveals anything new. We have
a writeup about the Skype protection techniques in
"Surreptitious Software", our book on security-through-obscurity.
(Sorry for the blatant self-promotion).
