I really hate to see what is happening with the Boy Scouts. I have strong
affections for BSA and it was because of the BSA I joined APO. This year,
my son entered Tiger Cubs (BSA) which I hope will end with him as the third
generation of Eagle Scout in my family.

It looks to me like the Boy Scouts have fallen into the hands of conservative
extremists and are constantly being attacked by liberal extremists. It
saddens me to see all the good work the BSA has contributed to our nation
and our world over the past 90 years being picked apart by reporters and
lawyers.

I'm glad APO is more moderate. I hope APO can influence BSA to moderate some
of their positions. But I still believe in the Twelve Points as a noble and
worthy guide for one's life. I don't want either APO or BSA to lose that.

Debates over homosexuality, gender, race, language, religion, and the like,
have raged for millenia. Maybe us mortals are incapable of reaching a
concensus. But APO and BSA are good. Don't destroy what is good simply
because it is not perfect.
