There have been some posts about Gamma Sigma Sigma in the past few days.
Another service sorority, Omega Phi Alpha, also exists. WHen APO wasn't
coed there was an OPA chapter at Eastern Michigan Univ. and it was a
sister organization to APO. The chapter went under shortly after APO
went coed in 1976.
Two years ago an Omega Phi Alpha chapter was restarted at EMU. A few
female APO brothers left to join OPA. Their emphasis seemed to be more
socially oriented but they did do some service projects. There is a
chapter at Bowling Green that was helping the EMU chapter get rolling.
It has been a while since I heard about the OPA chapter at Eastern
so I don't know if it ever took off.
I think OPA is much smaller than GSS, the last numbers I heard were
about 16 active chapters which were mostly in the southeast.
