I agree with most of your sentiment here, Dave (this might be a first!)
The guys at Alcorn State were probably a fraternity in every sense of the
word. And they might even have been putting in a million hours of service
to their school and community.
The point is they were not a part of Alpha Phi Omega service fraternity.
According to one of the previous messages, they were ousted at the national
level years ago. They should not have been wearing APhiO letters or calling
themselves brothers of the same fraternity we belong to.
While I am sad for the family and friends of the young man who was killed,
a big "DUH!" for the brothers who assigned the particular event, and for
those who decided to participate. If lawsuits are to occur, hopefully they
will be against the students at Alcorn State and the man behind the gun,
not the fraternity we love and respect.
