Brothers,
I am a bit discontented with how service hours are determined here at my
chapter and I know from past conferences and apo-l messages that others are
having problems with their chapter dealing with service participation. I
remember someone sending to apo-l about not wanting to be active if there was a
set amount of service hours that each brother has to do in one school session.
I would like feedback about proposing a new way to lower the level of inactive
brothers because of school demands and increase a new sense of
participation...It may even solve that one brother's problem about set service
hours:
-How about making brothers pledge a number of hours that they would like to
commit themselves to for the next session. Something like people do when they
do readathons or walkathons and such...Each brother says how many hours they
will do and then I guess you could penalize them if they don't. But This way,
more brothers will be active instead of saying, "well, I can't meet those hours
so I'll go inactive". A little is better than nothing and the brother could
blame no one else but themselves.
Now some of my statments may sound harsh. I do not intend them to be...but I
have been getting some pretty rotten treatment from brothers here at my chapter
so I feeling bitter about it.
I appreciate all comments and suggestions,
