Hi y'all!

Okay...now that I have everything straight chapter-wise, I can finally get back
to my quilt. A lot of people have been asking me about how to make the square
and such, so I thought that I would post the directions here while I send the
printed copy to the National Office. If your chapter is going to make a square,
_please_ let me know! (I would rather get 4 messages from 1 chapter than nonw
from 4 chapters.)

Remember, these are the directions only. A formal letter and copy of direcitons
will be sent (hopefully) to your chapter as well for your chapter CorSec to
have. (The formal letter is also for those chapters either not on one of these
lists, or does not have e-mail access.)

Please send any questions, comments, etc. to the codes/phone number below.
(No phone calls after 11pm Eastern Standard Time, please. Dad doens't like to
be woken up. :) )

Alpha Phi Omega National Quilt Square directions:
-------------------------------------------------

The square has to be 15 x 15 inches square ONLY. No more, no less. The only
other requirement is that your chapter name be on the square.

Materials:
----------

These are the sturdiest materials I have found that are available at any fabric
/craft/sewing shop. The squares have to be durable enough to hold the weight of
itself and the other squares while the squares are being moved around. Prefered
and suggested materials are:

heavy white or colored musin (off white is fine also)
any strong cotton based fabric (cannot be stretched easily. You will be able to
                                tell.)
denim

Decorations:
------------

Items can be sewn, glued, or painted(*) onto your square, as long as they are
firmly attached. Also, there is a product out called Heat-and-Bond, which
allows you to iron on material.
(*) Note-if your chapter decides to use paint or glue, make sure that they are
washable. DO NOT use water soluable paint or glue. If it is humid out, it may
loosen your square decorations.
Also, please leave a 1 inch border around your square, so that there is room
to attach the other squares to it.

This square is a symbol of your chapter. Don't be worried about your chapter's
"artisitc abillities". Try to set up a time where as many people as possible
can meet to make it. You could even set it up as a fellowship. Have fun with
creating your square, and try to get as much as the chapter involved as possible
. I hope to see your square at Nationals!

p.s. If anyone involved with/running a conference is reading this, please
contact me asap. I need to start making sure that there is time set aside at
each conference to put the squares toether.

Thank you very much for your support so far. :)

YiLFS,
 Tracey
