I have noticed recently a few Brothers including their call sign in their sig
blocks, and was wondering if any of you have attempted to design service
projects in conjunction with your local ARRL/disaster preparedness
organizations....

For those of you who might not have understood that, amateur radio operators
(hams) often belong to local groups that are organized to help with
communiations and other things during emergencies such as tornadoes,
earthquakes, fires, floods, etc. Many times they have local "practise"
sessions to maintain their skills in the case of an emergency. I was inquiring
as to whether or not there are chapters out there that have worked with any
sort of disaster preparedness organization on a long term basis, and how that
worked out...I do seem to remember hearing about a call for "victims" in a
practise session someplace in the East, but I am wondering more about efforts
to be a part of the system that activates in the event of a disaster, rather
than the individuals that help to simulate one.

Thank you, and l'shanah tovah (happy new year)...
