My comments were and are my own opinions, except for things like Denver
can't have it this time.

I have gotten letters from Brothers who think that San Jose would be a
good place for the '96 convention and that San Diego should not be
counted out so quickly.

San Jose: I think that San Francisco Metro will have a bid, whether that
bid is San Francisco, Oakland, or San Jose. Two convention bids from the
same section that get all the way to Time & Place is a recipe for disaster
for both of them. Maybe Las Vegas & Honolulu could get away with it. From
the comments here, it probably wouldn't be too bad if all of these
plus Sacremento were submitted to the National Office in September '94.

Remember, In addition to Nashville and San Antonio, Little Rock Ark.,
Dallas Texas, and Fort Worth Texas were presented last time. According to the
National Bylaws, this should be as simple as a letter to Pat Burke, saying
"We think that Houghton, Michigan would be a good site for the '98 Convention.
" Pat would probably contact you to make sure it isn't a joke, but I don't
think that stating a city in september and then dropping out in Early
November causes much headache to the National Office.

However the northern California groups IMHO need to unite around one
bid by the time it gets to Time & Place.

San Diego: Cost is always a factor. However IMHO, if we are paying for
roadtripping to the West Coast, $5-$10 a night may not make as much
difference as it would in a NYC vs. Philadelphia Contest.

I do think that if serious bids are presented that the brotherhood can
only come out ahead.
