Friends, Romans (I thought we were Greek) and Countrypersons:
The time has come to move ahead and work on principles not just
a principle of service. I really don't care whether your chapter has
requirements of service, group projects, service hours, service etc's.
The point is (and should be) that service is only one part of the three
principles. What about these?
Friendship. Such a simple word to mean such a complex feeling.
The whole reason I became a LIFE member of this fraternity was because, I
saw the friendship in the group. "The only true friend, is the one friend
who doesn't have to say he/she is a friend" But be wary friendship should
not be an end to itself.
Leadership. When I attended the National Convention in Boston last
December, never before did I see so many "leaders." People were naturally
expressing sometimes to the greatest of discussion, sometimes to lesser
discourse. But Leaders, they were, they are, they will be.
Before I go, I want to leave a message for all you service freaks,
Service is that common bond. No one doubts your commitments to community
service.
