Your hearing from me about the service requirement, so I hope to
hear from you soon about other things!
For everyone else:
My name is Carmen and I'm the SVP of the Delta Zeta
chapter at the University of Pennsylvania in Philadelphia. Anyway:
Our semester hour requirement is 20 hours, but if a brother is
coming back from being inactive, it is 25 for that returning semester.
We focus on the four fields, and we don't have any official caps.
However, the issue has been brought up before.
We tag on hours (1 to 2) if a brother just doesn't show up. This
is at the discretion of the SVP, and it depends on the severity of the
situation. We have certain projects where numbers DO matter, and if we
confirm a number with an agency and do not provide that number, we look
bad and we aren't as efficient. One time we had a high school mentoring
day program, and one of our brothers didn't show up, so this high school
student was left roaming around campus by himself since the brother did
not pick him up. She got tagged 2 hours. I usually only happens in those
types of situations.
