Brothers,
I am in need of some advice. Our chapter was in danger
of dying last year with five active brothers. We had
six when our one pledge became a brother. Of those
brothers, one graduated, one did not re-enroll
at Fredonia (the school in question), and one
went inactive. We are down to three active
brothers. I am not sure if we are even going
to have a chapter next year. I have
heard of people coming back from
extreme chapter problems, and that
positive things are worth fighting for.
On top of this, we are supposed to be
holding a sectional service project
for next November, and I am its chair.
I actually set up the preliminary stuff,
but put it on hold for a while.
I have not heard from either of the
other two women in my chapter
after July, when I decided my long
distance phone bills were out of hand.
Both of the people in question, however,
were extremely busy. This summer I worked
full time, and took classes. Perhaps
it could be written off as a comedy of
errors. The project in question was supposed
to be a Thanksgiving-time held at our college lodge.
I am not sure what people would think of me
cancelling this service project, as I am now
its sole acting chair. If that continues
to be a one-woman project, it is
probably not worth anyone's time to
attend. Is this project worth keeping, guys?
The deposit on the lodge was already paid,
and word of the project spread via the list,
and by word of mouth only. Or am I
a hopeless idealistic, who needs to resort
through her priorities? Thank you.
Sincerely, Joy Stein
