I have been asked by the Brothers of the Phi Epsilon Chapter at Maine =
Maritime Academy to post the following message listed below.

Mrs. Phyllis Tenney "Mrs. T." passed away on April 4, 2003 in her home =
in Castine, ME. She was born April 19, 1914, in West Medford, MA. She =
was the first know woman to be initiated in APO as an Advisor with the =
Chartering of Phi Epsilon back in 1969. She has been an active advisor =
for Phi Epsilon from 1969-2003. She had received much recognition from =
APO, such as the National Pledge Namesake for the Fall 1985 Pledge =
Class, Namesake for the National Excellence in Advising Award, and =
received Distinguished Service Keys from Phi Epsilon Chapter, Region I, =
and Section 94. Not only was she active in APO but also in the =
community of Castine. She helped establish the Castine Yacht Club and =
active in the Castine Golf Club. In 1968 she accepted the position as =
the first social director for Maine Maritime Academy. In this position =
she organized student events, and taught manners and etiquette classes. =
The APO alumni established the Phyllis C. Tenney Scholarship Fund at =
Maine Maritime Academy; she also had the Dirigo Building of Maine =
Maritime Academy dedicated to her.
Mrs. T's service will be Saturday April 12, at 1pm at the Unitarian =
Church in Castine, ME. There will be a gathering after the service at =
Maine Maritime Academy. We will all miss her greatly.
