I'd just like to point out something that is a bit picky but seems a bit =
weird to me, based on the non-capitalisation of "active" below. As I =
learned in New Orleans, there is no definition of an "active =
alumnus/ae." This is not just an APO problem that I am addressing, but =
one which many groups have. An Active may not be all that active =
depending on circumstances. An alum may be very active even though not =
an Active. It is those who are active at some level who drive =
organizations besides by paying dues. In the other groups to which I =
belong, there are members (many in a few cases) where the members are =
active dues-wise but don't do anything or do little (ie less than they =
can, perhaps). How to address this in APO?

You should probably know that MANY of the Fraternity's alumni DO give =
VAST amounts of money to the Fraternity. Some give money through the =
annual campaign, some give money to the Leadership fund, and many, many, =
MANY alumni give of their money AND time as volunteers of the Fraternity =
(staff, etc.) Many of our alumni also give anonymously - they don't =
seek recognition. And, frankly, many alumni would rather see their =
money going to the PROGRAMS of the Fraternity than a discussion on the =
change of our Coat of Arms.
It seems to me that your message suggests alumni hold on to their =
money. Alumni in Alpha Phi Omega are NO different than any others: =
they give according to their ability and desire. Frankly, I think your =
message is somewhat insulting to those alumni who do give and to members =
generally. Some people would like to give but financially are unable to =
do so.
Alumni members of the Fraternity do their fair share in supporting =
Alpha Phi Omega, its programs, and its active members.

On a side note, even if the coat of arms did get changed, which it =
better not. I do not think that the fraternity is in any position to =
financial support such a change. We should not forget about the =
almighty dollar. Speaking of which, it kills me when I hear that the =
national fraternity is not financially well off. How many alumni do we =
have? Doctors, lawyers, millionaires, etc.? Come off of some of that =
money you are never going to spend and help the fraternity out. I know =
that as soon as I start making some money that is what I am going to do. =
