In my chapter where the big traditionally pins their little, we have dealt
with the strapless dress issue before. If the big is a male and the pledge
is a female in a strapless dress, we had a female brother stand in for the
pinning. It's not like that is the only reason we would ever need a stand-in
at pinning; we've also done it when the big brother has a speaking role or
cannot make it to the ritual. Never seemed to be that big of a deal.
