<P>Hello, my name is Meg Oehler and I was the Chair of the Finance and Operations at the 2002 National Convention in <?xml:namespace prefix = st1 ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:smarttags" /><st1:City><st1:place>New Orleans</st1:place></st1:City>. <SPAN style="mso-spacerun: yes"> </SPAN>In committee, we reviewed this matter through a piece of legislation proposed by Derek Cashman and other brothers in Region Three. <SPAN style="mso-spacerun: yes"> </SPAN>The reasons it was not presented to the floor were overwhelming. <SPAN style="mso-spacerun: yes"> </SPAN>We spoke to several individuals on this issue, including a past president and board member and they all said that it would be unwise to put the Board Policy online for liability purposes. <SPAN style="mso-spacerun: yes"> </SPAN>No major business would ever let the public have access to this information and if we were ever put in a position where someone was looking to sue Alpha Phi Omega!
, the entire Board Policy would be at hand for them to possibly use against us. <SPAN style="mso-spacerun: yes"> </SPAN>The Board Policy is available on request and should be left as such. <SPAN style="mso-spacerun: yes"> </SPAN>This action could be seen as a blatant disregard and direct violation of the decisions made by the Finance and Operations Committee and through the failure to bring the resolution up for discussion under legislative session, the National Fraternity. <SPAN style="mso-spacerun: yes"> </SPAN>If strong feelings were made to the opposite, than those submitting the legislation should have moved for adoption of Resolution # R-02-045 during the legislative session.</P>
<P class=MsoNormal style="MARGIN: 0in 0in 0pt">If there was a miscommunication or misunderstanding by any party about the decisions made, please understand that the concern here is for the well being of the National Fraternity.<SPAN style="mso-spacerun: yes"> </SPAN>The Board Policy should be removed from any online resource until such time as resolution is passed allowing this document to be online in a safe and secure manner. <SPAN style="mso-spacerun: yes"> </SPAN>Thank you for your immediate consideration and action.</P>
