Hello
I am in desperate need of at the very least 7 brothers who still have yet
to get a mode of transportation down to New Orleans who live in Ohio,
Kentucky or Tennessee (or any other areas on our way from Ohio to LA). We
will be starting the bus in Cleveland, making stops in Columbus, Dayton
Cincinnati and Louisville (and anywhere else need be). My goal was to have
45 people on the bus at the very least to meet the $140 a person price,
however we have not been able to do so. The bus filled to capacity is 55
passangers, at $115 a person. At the conception of this plan, back in
May,we had optimistically thought that we could take 3 buses to get all of
region 5 and the surrounding areas safely down to nationals by leaving it
to the professionals. Unfortunately, even after much hard work and
promotion, the numbers have just not been there and now we are down to one
charter bus, with few chapters still hoping to make this goal obtainable.
We had our numbers until this afternoon when i checked up upon a chapter
about payment and was informed that they were no longer sending their
representatives. I come to you now because it is my concern that in our
good intentions and with extending deadline after deadline we have done
nothing but shot ourselves in the foot- plane fares have gone up and if we
are not able to get 7 more brothers on this bus then we will have to drive
(which will be hard to organize for Zeta Delta, our vans are not
dependable, we live in scattered parts of the region, and a lot of
brothers' parents do not wish their children be driving themselves during
the holidays). If you have any information about any brothers, family,
friends, chairs, etc who may be interested in busing please let me know
ASAP and try to at the very least pass this on to your respective chapters.
Personally i am feeling quite helpless, i have exhausted all other means
and am quite desperate. As a student, single mother, and teacher here at
Miami I have devoted every free hour to trying to make this happen, i have
personally put down the deposit so as not to lose the bus and i do not want
to let any brothers down especially the ones who have helped me in my
efforts and/or have paid their money.
Thank you so much in advance for your cooperation in this matter- I look
forward to meeting some of you at the convention, i have seen so many great
ideas posted here.
all my Best in LFS
Diane.

Following is my previous email to region V listserve.
My name is Diane Clarke and i am SRN for Zeta Delta at Miami University.
Several, serveral weeks ago, maybe mid-August, i sent out letters to each
of the chapters of our region (Region V) asking about the bus to nationals-
The deadline to get the money into me by so i can pay the charter company
in full was Nov 8 (the bus company needs to be paid by Nov 26 but it takes
time to get a check processed through the University. Sooo- i need to know,
definate numbers of people who are interested in taking this bus, if you
are shady about the particulars please feel free to email me or at this
point since we need to be on top of things call me at 513-529-5184 or my
cell 513-238-0570. I can even call you, i check my email every couple hrs
and keep late hrs as I have an 11 month old son. PLEASE PLEASE GIVE ME SOME
IDEA OF WHERE YOUR CHAPTERS STAND- if you have phone #s for chapters send
them my way so i can get in touch- Zeta Delta needs to know that we have
the numbers to make the bus idea obtainable- we may be forced to find
alternate modes of transportation, some already have. Parking at each of
the pick up points has been set up at least tentatively by Ed Richter and
Troy. The pick ups are as follows, Cleveland, Columbus, Dayton, Cincinnati,
and Louisville. We will be leaving the 26th and returning the 1st (arriving
the 2nd) so as not to spend New Years Eve on a bus. I have gone from the
very ideological 3 buses to transport our whole section down to one and now
i am unsure if we will just end up driving down alone. I feel very defeated
as i do not want to let my chapter and those brothers who are in favor of
the bus down, we are really getting down to the wire and it is getting
frustrating to be in my position of whether to call it all off or to
faithfully (naively) stick to my guns- but i dont want brothers of my
chapter losing money by waiting for other chapters to give us an idea of
where things stand. My intention was to get as many brothers representing
region 5 as possible down to N.O. in the safest means possible. PLEASE
SECTION CHAIRS, everyone- help a brother out here!
Thank you,
Best regards,
Diane T. ClarkeSRN Representative and Chapter Mom.
