It's been my understanding that there were essentially two APO blocks for
the hotel. A large one for the actual convention dates (12/27-12/30) and
then a smaller number of rooms from that block were blocked for the New
Year's dates. We were told in R6 that the original block and the NY block
were both sold out. I know that Bob London and the Nationals team are
looking into alternatives and should be letting everyone know after their
next meeting this coming weekend.
I would recommend waiting until then before taking any action and possibly
getting into a bad situation.
