Dear Brothers,
=20
I've been pretty much in the dark, as the rest of us have been with the =
issue of Joel Bryant. =20
On a different topic:=20
I recently received my large box of proposed amendments for voting. =
Perhaps its just me, and I apologize to anyone I may offend. =20
It seems we are putting up many things to vote that seem to be very =
insignificant, and so minute, that it almost seems a waste of time to =
debate, and vote on them.
With all due respect to all brothers who proposed these amendments. =
Does it really matter if we have 1 LARGE candle, and the rest regular =
sized. Do we have to rewrite the ritual book to make adjustments for =
blindfolds when we already have it mentioned that blindfolds are =
optional? I am not aiming to pick on those brothers of the =
aforementioned ideas. These are just examples.
We are a group that promotes individuality. We also promote =
intelligence. (remember "to further the freedom that is our national =
educational intellectual heritage"). I know our voting delegates would =
much rather be meeting other brothers, doing service, and making =
connections, rather than sitting and debating we should change Frank =
Reeds Horton speech during the initiation ritual. (Which makes me wonder =
why it was changed in the first place, it was his words after all.)
Again, I do not mean to offend, or disrespect anyone. I feel we all have =
something we could add, but at a convention where some of us are paying =
hundreds of dollars to go, we could find a better use of our time than =
deliberating the importance of specifying that blindfolds are optional =
MULTIPLE times in the ritual.
Granted, I could be totally wrong, and these votes could pass with no =
more than a minutes notice. But that's a minute to meet someone, a =
minute to sleep, or a minute to eat. A convention, a national one at =
that, is a rare and large opportunity for many. And although we do have =
a business plan, there is so much more that happens. Service. Bonding. =
Friendship. Fellowships. These amendments can be resolved on a =
individual chapter basis. We are, after all, smart, educated adults.=20
Hopefully I did not step on too many peoples toes, and for those that =
were offended, my sincerest apologies, again.
Sincerely,
Daniel Kreifus
President
