Though I am a little confused as to what is going on, I'm seeing two things
running with this particular topic throughout a couple of threads. One is
the subject of A-Phi-Q chapters and the other is on how we should handle
the misconduct of some brothers. On the second point I will have to say
that I don't think that put a set in stone rule like its has to be a felony
for us to do anything about it is the way to go. Every situation is
different. That's why in the justice system we have trials, because every
instance in different. So letting go before the National Convention is
like putting it to trial amongst your peers. On the first point I have a
little more to say. Though I pledged in fall 1998 I quickly heard about
the A-Phi-Q thing.
As an African American I saw that its own form of segregration led by the
HBCU's themselves. They want to call themselves oppressed by the national
fraternity. But they what they don't seem to understand is that the reason
that we are coed is because we don't fall under the sames category as
SOCIAL GREEKS. When they passed title 9 that affected A-Phi-O as a
national fraternity. Its not that the national office is against the all
male chapters at the HBCU's is that they are following a federal mandate.
So don't try to pull that race card. Its over used. The fraternity
accepts African Americans both male and FEMALE. They don't exclude anyone
which is what make this organization what it is.
