Just a quick comment from a lurking old dog...

This may have been covered somewhere in the discussion but just to be sure....

Reactions to the proposals are seemingly centering on an individual's
ability to pay or not. Are we making the assumption that the prospective
brother has to make the payment on an individual basis? Is he or she
alone? Are we a service fraternity or what? As part of our service to our
fraternity should not brothers, chapters, sections, regions, alumni
associations, individual alumni create individual or joint scholarship
programs to help offset the costs for people who need the help with fees?

That should be true now.

One of the last things we want to do is turn someone away because of economics.

I am not speaking for or against the current proposals. I would think that
whatever is presented at convention is backed with sound economic data and
that the voting delegates will make the correct decision one way or the
other.. One other thought is a theme that a past M&E chair, Fred Pollock,
espoused...increasing membership numbers will help keep our fees down.

Thank you. I will now resume lurking.
