APO LEADS is the new leadership development program of Alpha Phi
Omega. During the fall there will be a limited number of
presentations of the first new program, Launch. Launch is a
prerequisite to all the other programs so everyone is encouraged to
attend one. If there isn't an opportunity near you, there will be
several Launches presented each day of the convention. To be
trained as a staff member for any of the new programs you must attend a
presentation of that program first.<br>

There will be a single presentation of the new Explore program this Fall
at the Tri-sectionals in Fayetteville, AK on Oct 5. It's next
presentations will be Dec 28 & 30 at convention.<br>

There will also be a couple presentations of the TDW this fall. The
TDW is going be revised slightly and will be dubbed the Achieve by
convention. Those who attend a TDW will have that count as their
Achieve attendance.<br>

In addition to attending the presentation of a program, to be trained as
a LEADS staff member you must also attend the two Basic Skills training
modules, Presentation Skills and Facilitation Skills. These will be
offered on Dec 27, 28 and 30 at convention.<br>

After Basic Skills the next step is Content Training. These
training modules are specific to each program and designed to give you
the knowledge and familiarity with the workshop's content in order to
present the workshop. There will be Launch Content Training on Dec
28 and Explore and Achieve Content Training on Dec 29. Launch and
Achieve trainings are four hour programs plus an extra few minutes for
feedback. Explore training is eight hours plus a few minutes for
feedback.<br>

The Launch is intended to be given by one presenter. Therefore in
order to be fully trained as a Launch presenter you must give one with a
member of training staff observing. All those going through Launch
Content training on Dec 28 will have that opportunity at
convention. For Achieve and Explore you will co-present with
experienced presenters of those workshops. That co-presentation
should preferably be done at convention but can be done afterwards by
arrangement.<br>

As there are only so many hours in a day it will not be possible for one
person to become fully certified for all three programs during
convention. One can be fully trained for Explore or Launch and
Achieve. As there are many folks who will be involved in the
legislative session who will not be able to attend the various Content
Training sessions during the convention we are willing to offer Launch
and/or Achieve Content Training on Dec 31, the day after
convention. For that to happen 10 people need to FIRMLY commit to
being there on Dec 31 10-6. (Firmly is defined as stating you will
be there regardless of level of discomfort from the night before,
appealing sightseeing opportunities that may arise by then or any other
distractions.) If we do not have 10 people willing to absolutely
commit by Friday Oct 15, this extra Content Training will not be
offered. This is not an arbitrary deadline. The convention
committee needs to know if we want rooms reserved by their meeting on Oct
16. If you are interested please send me an e-mail expressing your
interest and for which program you would like to be trained. If we
have enough people express interest we will offer both courses, otherwise
majority rules.<br>

A complete schedule of LEADS programs presentations will soon be posted
by the convention committee on the convention web site.<br>
