INTERNATIONAL OFFICE SEEKS EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR APPLICANTS
In view of the January 31, 2004 retirement of current Executive Director, A.G.
Terry Shaffer, Kiwanis International is seeking applicants for the position of
Executive Director (ED). This position acts as the Chief Administrative Officer
of Kiwanis International. The ED partners with the President and Board of
Trustees in conducting the business of Kiwanis International, and performs such
duties as are specified or implied in the Constitution and Bylaws, Policies and
Procedures, and those assigned by the Board of Trustees. To fulfill this role,
the ED leads and directs the members of the Executive Management Team (EMT) to
meet the needs of the Board of Trustees and the Kiwanis Family members,
including the International Foundation. The ED focuses on delivering timely
and relevant member service and employee satisfaction, while achieving the
organization’s strategic objectives.
Successful candidates will have a Bachelor’s degree in business or the
educational equivalent; demonstrated knowledge of operational process and
management of organizational finances; minimum of five (5) years high-level
management experience; demonstrated leadership skills and a clear understanding
of the role of a leader; effective communication skills to all aspects of the
organization; 3-5 years experience working with volunteers from a variety of
backgrounds; and 3-5 years experience working with a board of directors or
trustees. Other requirements include demonstrated value of continuous
innovation and creativity; demonstrated sensitivity to different cultures and
international diversity; multilingual with the ability to understand the
context of languages other than English. Domestic and international travel is
