Might I suggest that we also look to promote the LEADERSHIP DEVELOPMENT
aspects of Alpha Phi Omega as well? A million groups do service, but we do
MORE than service. We don't ignore the LD component of Alpha Phi Omega, so
why should let others? We shouldn't.
In addition to marketing how different (and therefore UNIQUE) Alpha Phi
Omega is from other groups, we ought to really begin stressing our
leadership development aspects, and actively working (as the National LD
committee is currently doing) to develop, refine, and produce quality
leadership development programs.
We have 3 cardinal principles, not 1 or 2. I'd suggest that it's time we
start talking about the other two, because in my opinion, it's long overdue
(and my thanks to those on the LD committee who have been knocking
themselves out to give all our members some quality LD programs.)
Please don't read my comments to mean that somehow I value Service less, or
that we should focus less on Service. That's not what I'm saying - I'm
saying we need to focus MORE on LD and Friendship. We've spent 77 years
developing our service programs; I'm not certain our other programs have had
quite such a focus, and it's probably time they did.
