Hello Brothers,
I wanted to chime in on this subject, as an alumnist of Lambda Omicron, I
thought I would try to maybe add a little to what Mark said.
Our purpose at the scout camp is two fold. We usually spend several hours
there each semester doing a scout clean up. It's raking leaves, cutting
woods, and various other tasks. Usually in exchange for our work, we get the
run of the camp when we want it. As well, Lambda Omicron sponsors a piece of
land on the camp and donated a pit for thier annual ox roast.
The other purpose for the use of the camp is our pledge activation. It is
fairly unique to us and it one of the most awesome sights you will ever see.
Due to the nature of not only the ritual but our ritual, it's all I will say.
That being said, a fact that has been overlooked forever is the fact that our
universities insurance does not cover us on camp. It was overlooked until
there was a change in the guard at the local office and one of the things
that changed was that we were no longer able to use the camp until we were
covered to the scouts satisfaction.
Hopefully that clarifies things a little. I know there are other actives of
Lambda O out there on this listserv as well as alumni so if they could chime
in, maybe that would be helpful too. :)
