Not to discourage ride-sharing, but to let people know of another travel
option, even if they can't find a ride to share:
Amtrak stops AT BWI and then heads to Philly's 30th St. Station, which
has public transit ($1.60 ?) as well as cabs (should be less than $10)
to the hotel.
As people make travel plans, it's worth investigating flying into/out of
BWI, as the airfare savings may be substantial, even taking into
consideration the train ticket cost. (At least one major discount
airline, SouthWest serves BWI).
Info on schedules, prices, and reservations for Amtrak trains are at
their web site: <http://www.amtrak.com/>. (Note that Metroliner service
is a "higher" class service, so Metroliner trains will cost more). Note
that AAA Members (among others) can get a discounetd fare, so be sure to
mention it/have your AAA number ready.
A number of airlines are having sales right now in response to United's
"apology" temporary fare reductions through Sept. 22, so if you know
you're going to nationals, look into booking now!
