Brothers-
In today's Kansas City Star, there was an article written by Brian Burnes
that might be of interest to you. H. Roe Bartle's speeches while he was
mayor of Kansas City from 1955 to 1963 were recorded on reel to reel.
Apparently Sid Willens had copied some of them to audiotape years ago.
Today the 39 minutes of Bartle have been copied onto CD and were given to
the Boy Scout Council. Copies of the CD can be purchased from the Heart
of America Boy Scout Council for $5.00. Their phone number is
816.942.9333. www.kansascity.com is the local website if you are
interested in reading the article in its entirety. It was on page B8 of
the Metropolitan section of the September 2, 2000 edition for those who
might have access to the paper version.
