speaking as the past region 1 rep on NomCom, it isn't a feasible
idea...many candidates (even those that were voted on to this current
board) have no intention of running until they are nominated AT the convention.
  It is also a stressful decision since many candidates need to speak
with their spouse before committing to this 2 year commitment.  I think it
would be very unfair (even though I DO see the merit in it, my lack of
sleep from this committee caused Cheryl Smith to send me to bed from
the floor during the toast song debate).  These positions are too
important and too much of a commitment to put a deadline that would cause
us not to have some exceptional candidates from running and being elected
to the board.
