Back in my active years in my chapter, the chapter rationalized that since
the chapter has selected two members to represent us, they shouldn't be
placed with the pressures of getting to nationals. The chapter had
allocated funds in the budget with the cost of getting to and back from
Nationals. The alternate was responsible for getting 1/2 the funds needed
to get to Nationals.

My opinion is that it would be in bad taste because of the political
correctness-fear of our society today. Someone, in an attempt to be
"ugly", might portray a particular society. The act itself can be
considered bad-taste and/or hurtful or slanderist (sp?). It could be held
as bad publicity for the organization as a whole.
