Brothers - Are you a leader in your chapter? Will you be
an officer in the next school year? If so, do you know
what a CPW is? You should! The Chapter Program Workshop
is one of the best opportunities for you to learn about and
expand your leadership skills as they relate to APO and your
chapter. With CPWs scheduled around the country throughout
this coming summer, we hope you'll make plans now to take
advantage of this national program.
Please forgive the length of this posting. Although
information about Chapter Program Workshops is sent to
every chapter via the National Chapter Bulletin, this
information is worth sharing with the widest audience
possible!
Fraternally,
Charlie Zimmerman
National CPW Coordinator

Chapter Program Workshops 2000
In a nutshell, a CPW is like no other experience you will ever have
in APO. Truly, this is a unique opportunity to spend a weekend
with a relatively small to medium-sized group of APO brothers
from a number of different chapters, near and far, focused on the
Fraternity we love, with one goal in common: to become better
leaders in our chapters.
Each CPW begins on Friday night and ends around noon on Sunday. In
between, you'll explore the elements that contribute to a healthy
and successful chapter: Planning, communications, recruiting,
retention, brainstorming, delegation, basic chapter operations,
problem solving and more. Every chapter has strengths and
weaknesses, and a CPW is a chance for key leaders in every chapter
to come together, share experiences and explore possibilities.
What's more, you leave the CPW with a personal action plan that
you devise to take you into the next year as a leader in your
chapter.
Along the way, you'll also have a great time with your brothers.
This is summer, after all!
The program is geared towards the needs of Presidents, Vice Presidents
of Service and Vice Presidents of Membership, but other officers
and chapter leaders can find it to be of great benefit, too. Each
CPW is staffed by experienced APO volunteers and national leaders,
providing the opportunity for you to get answers and ideas from
those who've "been there" and know the ropes.
The CPW has become such a successful and well-received part of
Alpha Phi Omega's leadership development program that it is now
offered each summer in multiple locations around the country,
allowing members from all regions of the country to have access to
its unique features. And there's no restriction on which CPW you can
attend -- any CPW that is convenient is open to you, regardless of
the region your chapter is in. In fact, going to a CPW outside of
your region enhances the exchange of ideas and information!
What's more, the price is about as good as you can get -- $45, no
matter which CPW you attend. That price includes materials, two
nights lodging and four meals (three on Saturday, one on Sunday).
The actual cost of holding each CPW may be higher than $45 per head,
but the Fraternity makes up the difference -- because we think that
aiding in the growth your leadership abilities is that important.
