My general rule of thumb is that if I can imagine *both* Bill Clinton &
Bob Dole be willing to attend a meeting/project of the group in front of
cameras, you are OK.

However... What is political depends significantly according to campus
(and to some extent is a moving target).

For example, a chapter in my area for student activities day had a booth
with information on AIDS provention. Part of that was a glass jar with
"Guess the number of condoms in the jar and win them." They are a public
university and I can't imagine the administration having a problem with
that. OTOH, the Jesuit(Catholic) university 10 miles away would definately
have had a problem with it.
