Derek, and everyone else,
I would not advise "winging it" when planning a rush. This is a sure
fire way to lower your possible membership numbers.
The best advise I can give is put together a committee with the pledge
master(s), VP of membership, the President, advisor and some eager members to
brainstorm what would make them want to join this group and what did make
them join in the first place. Invite your newest members to tell what caught
their eye last year and what made them a little leery of APO so you know what
not to do.
This will get the ball rolling and assure a successful rush by showing
perspective's what a great organization this is. If your rush is well
organized, and not just thrown together the night before at the local
Denny's, students and faculty will notice and be impressed enough to want and
know more.
