This past weekend in Buffalo was incredible. Alumni started to pouring
into SUNY Buffalo's Student Union on Friday, April 30th for the start of a
celebration weekend.

Friday evening we held a redeication ceremony where many past-presidents
had speaking parts. A letter from Henry "Chip" Hein was read aloud by Alex
Lynn in regards to our chapter's refounding. We then went around the
circle of brothers talking about why we joined Alpha Phi Omega or our most
rememorable experience with our Fraternity. Concluding the ceremony, a
poem of Friendship was read aloud by Connie Harding, President-Elect.
An additional highlight of the evening was the awarding of a Distinguished
Service Key to Neil Wolfson.

On Saturday morning we had our service project of Adopt-A-Highway. About
20 garbage bags were filled with trash and other assorted items from our
stretch of road at North French. Alumni brothers and Actives interacted
while cleaning up our neighbourhoods.

Saturday afternoon we had a picnic on campus. Our entertainment was
watching the UB Rugby team, as we dined on hot dogs, hamburgers, and
veggie burgers. We intermixed and talked. The newer members met Alumni and
Alumni talked and caught up on the past as well as remembering fond
memories of Alpha Phi Omega.

Saturday evening was our 10/50 celebration!

After a wonderful buffet dinner at the Holiday Inn, a 30 minute slide show
was presented with pictures of our chapter throughout the past 10 years.
Many familiar faces were seen, some of which were in attendance and others
who were remembered fondly.

Mark Purdue, the refounding President, spoke for a short time on his life
in the past 10 years and what the efforts of bringing Alpha Phi Omega to
the University of Buffalo campus has accomplished. A second Distinguished
Service Key was awarded to a speechless Mark Purdue.

We were also honoured by having some Founding Brothers from Epsilon Sigma
be in attendance.

After some raffle items were handed out, we all partied and danced until
midnight. We took family tree pictures and pictures of the Founding
Brothers and Refounding Brothers.

On Sunday morning, we wrapped up the weekend with a small brunch gathering
in our Student Union. We exchanged addresses and had copies of our Book of
Traditions floating around for alumni members to see.

This weekend was definately a wonderful experience and will always be
remembered by our members from Epsilon Sigma.

Peri Nelson
