Hello Brothers,

The Mid-Atlantic Region Alumni Association is forming and is open to all
brothers who wish to participate in performing SERVICE! The Mid-Atlantic
Region Alumni Association is a SERVICE oriented alumni association for
brothers, spouses, and friends of Alpha Phi Omega members. And what better
way to start an Alumni SERVICE Association than to kick it off with a
SERVICE project?

To start our pledge to service I have set up a project on Saturday May 8th
with the U.S. Park Service at Greenbelt National Park to perform hiking
trail maintenance which includes spreading woodchips to prevent soil
erosion, possibly building trail tiers which also prevent soil erosion, and
trash cleanup; full details are below.

The Project: Trail Maintenance and Clean Up
Where: The Great Outdoors of Greenbelt National
Park, Greenbelt, MD
Time/Date: 10:00 am to 3:00 pm Saturday May 8, 1999
Meeting Area in Park: Sweetgum Picnic Area
What to bring: Grunge Clothes and a pair of work gloves
Directions: Below
Areas of SERVICE: National, Local Community, and Environmental

Why are we doing this? Because we wish to be of SERVICE not only to our
community but to the brotherhood by providing a post-collegiate program of
SERVICE and Fellowship for the Brothers of Alpha Phi Omega.

From James Thomas - "As an alumnus I have felt cut off from the fraternity
because I was not able to go to many of my local chapter functions or events
and thus I cut myself off from my brothers and friends. After much thought
and consideration I have found that in doing so I was not being a very good
brother because I very rarely did volunteer work and had almost no contact
with brothers outside of e-mail. This alumni-association is my way of
giving back to my community and the brotherhood by once again being a friend
and acting as a brother."
