Greetings,
Since everyone else is posting about conferences, I thought I'd
mention ours too. The Section 49 conference was April 9-10 and was hosted
by the Delta Delta chapter at St. Louis University. Those of us at Delta
Delta are very proud of its success because this is the first conference
we have hosted since the National Convention was in St. Louis the year of
our rechartering (which I believe is 1990)
Beta Psi Chapter at Southeast Missouri State University was awarded the
bid to host the 2000 Section 49 Conference in Cape Girardeau, MO.
Awards:
Man Mile Award Epsilon, Truman State University
Man Service Award Epsilon, Truman State University
Roll Call Epsilon, Truman State University
H. Roe Bartle Chapter Award Epsilon, Truman State University
As you can see, it was a clean sweep!
John Ottenad was re-elected as Section 49 Chair.

This is the best attendance in our section in a really long time! Thank

Our keynote speaker for the banquet was Bill Kuhfal. He spoke on the
conference theme, "Finding our Way." Thank you Bill for a wonderful
speech.
At the banquet a challenge was also issued from Beta Rho in Arkansas.
There will now be an attendance competition between sectional conferences
for Section 49 and 33.
Our workshop presenters consisted of the following staff, student, and
alumni:
Kevin Alexander, Josh Adams, Chris Weir, Mike Whitfield, Kevin Flinn, Kim
Weir, John Ottenad, Brant Warrick, and Cindy Grubenhoff
We thank them and also thank Denis and Ellen Sutter for their workshop on
Hot Air Ballooning.
I hope I remembered everything and that a good time was had by all. We
will all look forward to the Region VIII conference in Jan. 2000 hosted by
Delta Beta at University of Oklahoma.
