Brothers--
Having chosen after five terms not to run for re-election, and instead to
pursue other challenges in APO, this is my last official duty as "Section 94
Chair". It was with great sadness that I chose to step aside, from a role that's
been
so much a part of my life these last four years, but it was also time, the
growth and development of the Section had come to the point where a sixth term
for me would not have been for the greater good of the development of the
"staff" I've been working to grow for the last two years. It's also a reality of
leadership development that the leader should replace themselves. So I am happy
knowing that I do truly belong, and everyone is happy with the fact that even if
I don't have the title of Section Chair, that's not going to stop or lessen my
level of involvement. So you won't be getting rid of me... just seeing me other
roles such as devoting my full attention to extension in the Canadian Province
of Quibec.
The students of the six chapters of Section 94 unanimously elected Stephen
Merrill, on Saturday afternoon to fill the role of Section Chairman, please join
me in congratulating Steve as he moves into this role. Steve can be reached at
smerrill@mint.net. Steve pledged at the Sigma Xi chapter of Alpha Phi Omega in
1988, he holds in BA from UMaine. He works
for MBNA as a credit analyst near his home in Searsport Maine. (one thing of
note, this was the first time all six chapters have been present and voting in
the 7 year existence of Section 94)
Also for similar reasons, Richard Donovan, chose to retire as Section 96 Chair,
but I'll leave those reasons for him to speak to, if he chooses. His successor,
elected by the chapters of Section 96, is Marilyn Mims. Marilyn can be reached
at mlmims@dardan.com. Marilyn pledge at the Phi chapter of Alpha Phi Omega in
1991, and she holds a BFA and MS from Syracuse University. She works for the
Newton (MA) public schools near her home in Arlington Massachusetts.
