Okay, let me see if I understand this correctly. If there is a GSS chapter on a
campus we should let an APO chapter charter as all male? Can somebody explain
the logic of that to me? GSS and Omega Phi Alpha may very well be wonderful
groups for women to belong to, but they are NOT Alpha Phi Omega and their
existence on a campus should have NO bearing on our membership requirements. We
are different organiziations! Should we abandon our committment to service
merely because another service group exists on a campus? Should we deny women
membership merely because there is already a "girly" service group on a campus?
Why even bother starting an Alpha Phi Omega chapter if you are so determined to
have an all male group? The National Convention of 1976 voted that the
fraternity would be co-ed (with the previously mentioned exceptions). A
petitioning group that cannot be bothered with women should reconsider joining
because Alpha Phi Omega is obviously NOT the organization it really wants to be.
